Job Description: Our client is seeking a Mixed Animal Associate Veterinarian to join a highly experienced clinic providing veterinary services across all species. The caseload has a strong production-animal emphasis, including dairy, sheep, and deer work, alongside opportunities to remain involved in companion animal care.

This position would suit a veterinarian interested in advanced herd health, farm performance, mastitis control, and milk-quality services. You will work alongside knowledgeable clinicians, veterinary technicians, nurses, and farm-service professionals while supporting complex agricultural businesses throughout the wider Southland area.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering practical veterinary care across dairy, sheep, deer, and companion animal cases
  • Supporting large-herd health planning and production-focused programmes
  • Advising farming clients on mastitis prevention and milk-quality improvement
  • Working with veterinary technicians to deliver coordinated on-farm services
  • Contributing to shared emergency and after-hours coverage

Qualifications Needed:

  • Veterinary degree eligible for registration in New Zealand
  • Interest or experience in mixed and production animal practice
  • Strong client communication and farm relationship-building abilities
  • Confidence managing cases independently within a busy rural environment
  • Commitment to professional development and collaborative clinical work
