Internal Medicine Specialist Veterinarian Job, Bohemia, New York, USA

Job Description: Our client is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Internist to join a multidisciplinary specialty and emergency environment managing complex medical cases requiring advanced investigation and treatment. The position provides access to extensive diagnostic capabilities including MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and comprehensive in-house laboratory services, allowing for detailed case assessment and sophisticated medical management.

Working alongside specialists across surgery, neurology, dermatology and internal medicine, the successful candidate will contribute expertise to challenging referrals while collaborating closely with emergency clinicians and experienced technical professionals. There is also scope to take on leadership responsibilities, making the opportunity particularly attractive to an internist interested in combining advanced clinical medicine with professional progression.

The role would suit a residency-trained or board-certified veterinarian who values collaborative case discussion, excellent client communication and continued advancement within specialty medicine.

Qualifications Needed:

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary institution
  • Completion of a one-year rotating internship covering small animal medicine, surgery and emergency care
  • Completion of a three-year AVMA-approved internal medicine residency program
  • Current state veterinary license with DEA registration obtained and maintained as required
  • Board certification is preferred, with post-residency clinical experience considered advantageous

Package:

  • Leadership responsibilities available for an experienced specialist
  • Signing and retention incentives of up to $75,000 for eligible candidates
  • Advanced diagnostic resources including MRI, CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance coverage
  • Continuing education funding with additional career development opportunities
  • Paid parental leave for birth, adoption or foster placement
  • 401(k) plan incorporating discretionary employer contributions
  • Discounted veterinary care benefits for team members’ pets
  • Opportunity to collaborate closely with multiple board-certified veterinary specialties
  • Access to a fully equipped rehabilitation department and comprehensive emergency services
