Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time Large Animal Veterinarian with a strong interest in dairy medicine and farm performance. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with progressive dairy farmers across the Waipa region, combining hands-on clinical work with proactive herd health planning, fertility management, cattle scanning, disease prevention, and production-focused veterinary advice.
The role would suit a veterinarian who enjoys building trusted long-term relationships with farmers and wants to make a measurable contribution to livestock health and agricultural performance. Alongside routine and urgent veterinary care, the successful candidate will have opportunities to use data, modern agricultural technology, and structured animal health planning to help clients make informed decisions. Participation in a shared after-hours rota forms part of the position.
Qualifications Needed:
- Veterinary degree with eligibility to practise in New Zealand
- Confidence scanning cattle and managing common dairy health presentations
- Strong interest in herd health, reproduction, and production animal medicine
- Ability to establish trusted working relationships with farmers and colleagues
- Curious and proactive approach to developing new skills within the agricultural veterinary sector
