Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time Production Animal Veterinarian with a strong interest in dairy medicine and herd performance. The role offers a varied rural caseload across the wider Manawatu area, with the successful veterinarian supporting established farming clients through practical, proactive, and commercially focused veterinary care.
This position would suit a forward-thinking clinician who enjoys developing long-term client relationships, creating herd health programmes, and contributing ideas that improve animal performance. Experienced dairy veterinarians are encouraged to apply, while support and mentoring are available for candidates looking to strengthen their production animal expertise.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive dairy medicine and herd health services
- Designing and delivering practical client programmes for local farming businesses
- Supporting clients with herd performance, preventative care, and production planning
- Managing farm visits independently while maintaining strong service standards
- Participating fairly in the shared after-hours rota
Qualifications Needed:
- Veterinary degree eligible for registration in New Zealand
- Experience or a strong professional interest in dairy cattle medicine
- Confidence working independently across a busy production animal caseload
- Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship-building abilities
- A proactive approach to client education and rural veterinary service
