Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time Large Animal Veterinarian with a particular interest in deer and production animal medicine. The position offers a broad rural caseload spanning deer, sheep, beef, and dairy work, with a strong emphasis on herd health, reproductive performance, scanning, disease investigation, field procedures, and practical on-farm decision-making. This opportunity would suit a veterinarian with at least two years of large animal or rural mixed practice experience who is keen to deepen their expertise in deer medicine.
The successful veterinarian will work closely with a highly experienced senior deer clinician while supporting farmers across preventative programmes, fertility management, diagnostics, surgery, and production-focused animal health planning. Confidence with beef and deer scanning is important, while previous deer handling experience is advantageous rather than essential. There is also scope to retain some small animal or mixed practice work if preferred, alongside participation in the shared after-hours rota.
