This opportunity is well suited to a residency-trained surgeon, registered specialist, or experienced equine surgeon looking to progress within a busy, purpose-built setting with a strong surgical and referral caseload.

The position offers excellent exposure across orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue procedures, lameness work, performance horse medicine, reproductive services, imaging, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and stud veterinary care. With a high annual surgical volume and support from experienced colleagues, this role provides genuine scope for continued professional growth in a collaborative and well-resourced environment.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a varied equine surgical caseload, including orthopaedic, soft tissue, reproductive, airway, ophthalmic, and emergency procedures
  • Carrying out lameness assessments, poor performance investigations, imaging reviews, and referral-level case work
  • Supporting stud veterinary services, artificial reproduction, ambulatory care, and performance horse management
  • Working closely with veterinarians, nurses, and support staff to deliver consistent standards of patient and client care
  • Contributing to the surgical on-call roster while maintaining a structured schedule with regular time away from clinical duties

Qualifications Needed:

  • Completion of an equine surgical residency, specialist registration, or strong proven experience in equine surgery
  • Eligibility for veterinary registration in Queensland, Australia
  • Confident clinical judgement across surgery, diagnostics, lameness, reproduction, and emergency case work
  • Clear communication skills with clients, referring veterinarians, colleagues, and support staff
  • A practical, team-focused approach with enthusiasm for high-quality equine veterinary care

Package:

  • Competitive remuneration shaped around experience, qualifications, and surgical capability
  • Supported veterinary board registration and professional memberships
  • Continuing education allowance to encourage specialist development
  • One week of dedicated study leave included
  • Professional learning membership provided
  • Vehicle supplied for clinical work requirements
  • Phone provided to support daily case management and communication
  • Balanced rota structure with every Friday off
  • Access to advanced equine surgical, diagnostic, imaging, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and reproductive equipment
  • Collaborative workplace with experienced clinicians and skilled support staff
