Job Description: Our client is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join an Emergency and Critical Care service providing advanced nursing support to small animal patients requiring urgent, intensive, and specialist-led treatment. This full-time position involves caring for critically unwell patients, supporting emergency procedures, assisting with stabilisation, and working closely with veterinarians, specialists, residents, interns, and veterinary students.

The role offers extensive exposure to complex emergency and critical care cases, including oxygen-dependent and ventilated patients, RECOVER-based CPR, emergency anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, triage, and advanced patient monitoring. The successful nurse will also contribute to clinical teaching while helping maintain efficient patient flow and high nursing standards throughout the service.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification, with emergency hospital experience highly valued
  • Confident practical skills including IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic radiography, and emergency anaesthesia
  • Ability to remain composed and organised when managing critical patients and emergency presentations
  • Strong communication skills with confidence supporting veterinary professionals, students, clients, and academic staff
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster covering weekdays, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays
