This is a new, purpose built, 24/7 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Hospital in Nampa, Idaho; just outside of Boise. This area has experienced unprecedented growth in the last few years and there is a void for all services for pets. Their full-service facility focuses on emergency and critical care, surgery – both orthopedics and soft tissue, as well as General Practice services to offer follow up for patients that qualify.
What does this mean for you, as a Veterinary Intern? You will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned veterinarians with experience in multiple disciplines. Their caseload will help you gain experience, confidence and communication more efficiently and exponentially quicker than if you were to take on a strictly General Practice job. This might sound scary, but because the team value YOU and your mental health and would love for you to stick around after the internship, they offer a HIGH wage for our interns and require no more than 45 hour max work weeks…they believe that this is unmatched in the market space.
To put it simply, you can receive mentorship in variety of areas of veterinary medicine that can take years of practice and many hours of CE to acquire, get compensated well while doing it, have a life outside of work your first year out of veterinary school and not be pressured to tackle more than you can until YOU are ready.
This Hospital are looking for 3 Interns to join them for a 1-year commitment with a $75,000 salary and full benefits, working no more than 45 hours per week. These hours would be a mixture of day and night shifts with regard to the emergency service and some 8-hour workdays in the general practice service. This would result in 4-day work week. Their goal is not to burn you out or break you down, but to help you become the confident veterinarian you signed up to be.
They also highly encourage Interns to transition into full-time employees and stay with them after their Intern year, offering a $7k stay bonus at that time you choose to stay.
This Hospital is non-corporate and privately owned. The local, onsite owners work in the practice and live in the community. They offer an open and welcoming culture and encourage new ideas and modern thought. They foster collegiality and a good attitude amongst the staff. They strive to provide top-tier services with compassion to our patients and their owners. While their facility is new, the model is not and has been done successfully in other locations for years. Commonly, after the intern year is done, the interns then sign on to be DVMs within the practice, and easily produce salaries above $200,000, working 9 shifts per month. Their goal is to train you right, so you can work hard and play hard making great money, while only working as much as you are comfortable.
Clinicians that prefer general practice are encouraged to develop special interests, such as; dentistry, ultrasound, rehab, acupuncture, or surgery, and can quite literally develop “a practice within a practice”. Should you have a special interest, let us know and we can help manifest your superpowers!
