We catch up with Phil Walsh – the President of the AVSPNI at their Spring Conference in the La Mon Hotel, Co.Down.
It is an ever growing conference attracting an increasing level of international speakers and 100’s of delegates. It is a real credit to the veterinary profession.

Jobs and Retention of Vets:
With an ever changing focus on the type of work that vets are looking for and the ever increasing demand for flexible work roles, Phil tells The Vet Service what the association are doing to engage the current workforce.

There has been a change in focus at EU level and this will have effect most predominantly on the food production industry however the AVSPNI have already engage in talks with a number of industry bodies to address issues and help vets manage their clients through this change.
5-10 years ago the corporates were not a huge industry in the industry but they are now a dominant force within the industry. Phil tells us his thoughts on the changing workplace and ownership structure of practices and if this will be a good or bad thing in the future?
